god I love title track. It feels like they really tried to make a kinda basic alt metal song but they just couldn’t help themselves from getting weird with it.

There’s definitely some little instrumental moments I never noticed because I’m so focused on what is probably Carson’s best vocal performance. Just every little detail of that track is fucking perfect imo

Closer is definitely one of the best songs of the last couple years

Tbh I don’t like most mathcore a lot of it feels like the guitarist is just jerking off all over some songs. Bands that actually have an interesting sound and know how to write a song are few and far between imo
These guys are the latter. Best mathcore band going rn, unless you count Rolo and even then I think these guys might be better

Listened to this for the first time in ages a couple weeks ago, it really does stand the test of time. I love it more every time I revisit

This is my general feeling towards the genre as well. I mean, I still struggle with some parts of this album which are too mathy & chaotic for me (hence the 3.5 rating), but when this band clicks, THEY CLICK.

Rolo has kind of moved away from mathcore and is making their best material now doing so. The mathcore Rolo still slaps tho. This band doesn't hold nearly the emotional weight the last couple Rolo albums have for me so I don't think they could ever top but they are definitely peak for this kind of music right now, RIP TDEP

Peak mathcore-era Rolo (Grievances and Cosmo) was rattier and more creative than this + had a higher ceiling (if a lower floor). Agreed that they're done as a math act though, just hope they don't go even further into post rock than they're already verging on

Grievances > this as a mathcore album for sure

if last year's ep is anything to go by... daoboys are moving on from mathcore too

if that EP really is anything to go by, we shouldn't be looking at that like it's some kind of promotion

I’m hoping that the EP was just a little detour even if I dug most of it. And ya Johnny, totally agree on the higher ceiling, lower floor thing, particularly on Grievances. But even then, if I remember right (it’s been a minute since I’ve listened), that album had its fair share of post rockish elements.

I know they've been in the studio and now they're posting cryptic shit on their socials, so expecting a new album soon-ish
