Disagree on the generic part. Part of what made SHTS so awesome was the variety of sounds. It had the aggressive and weird stuff, but it also had those radio-friendly songs like Miro and Fireflies. For me, Buildings, Monuments and What You Are are songs like that. I like them a lot, tbh Monuments might even end up being one of my fav Finch songs... What You Are is really average for me but that backing vocal track on the chorus is just awesome.

I respect your opinion, and I'm not trying to argue in any way, but I don't think Miro and Fireflies are really radio-friendly songs. Sure, they only have clean vocals, but I think that instrumentally they are quite progressive. If I have to choose, I'd say that Bitemarks and Bloodstains is the most easily digestible song on Sunshine. But this is my favourite album ever, so I might be biased, please excuse me for that.

Not arguing either, I've never even talked to another Finch fan before so I'm enjoying myself! I think they are radio-friendly, they're the types of songs that if they were played on the radio, a normie would groove to them and not find them too weird. They're just like alternative rock songs with a slight edge. And I think that element has been present in their music since day 1. I also think Bitemarks and maybe Brother Bleeds Brother are pretty accessible. I don't know if this if my fav album ever (probably not) but it has NEVER left my rotation. I just never get sick of it at all. Also, nobody really talks about the self-tilted EP but I find it brilliant and on par with this. Daylight and COT are two of their best songs imo.

Yeah, it's really nice to talk about this album. It's such a grower, it took me a lot of listens to finally appreciate all of it. At this point, I'm not sure if I'll ever find another like this, even though I'm always on the lookout for new music. Have you seen the other review by Lambda? It's quite long, very detailed and totally worth a read.
Anyway, I also thought that Miro is kind of accessible, but when I showed it to someone about a month ago, they were instantly weirded out by it. They like (early) Three Days Grace and Red, some Linkin Park and even Exilia, so I thought Miro wouldn't be that much of a stretch, but alas, I was wrong...
Brother Bleed Brother is one of my favourite from Finch. And sadly, I was never able to get into that EP, so I may have to revisit it again sometime.

I haven't read it yet, I should do that. That's a really weird experience man, Miro is such a straight-forward song. And you should REALLY check out the EP. I see it as a direct extension of this album and I adore every song on it. As for other bands that kind of scratch that Finch itch, that's a bit tricky... Have you ever checked out Blindside or Hail The Sun? Both those bands at times have a very Finchy vibe. I'll try to think of a few others.

Right, I'll definitely give the Finch EP another listen.
I know Hail the Sun (I'm not fond of those clean vocals), but Blindside is new to me and they sound good, so I'm going to check their discography out. Thanks for the recommendations!

This is like one of the only albums where literally every vocal line/lyric is fucking perfect. Every riff too...

Wow, I totally forgot about Exotic Animal Petting Zoo, thanks for the reminder!
I (obviously) agree with this album sounding absolutely perfect. Every second is ridiculously well thought-out. Even the bonus track, Gak 2 is awesome.

there's two bonus tracks I think. the other is called spanish fly or something

Yeah, that's the one. Though it's like an outro with spanish lyrics and barely any instrumentals. The tone definitely fits the album at least, imo.
Edit: Worms of the Earth is also a fantastic song (from Underworld's OST), but I'm sure it was already mentioned.

Damn, that guitar at the background in Gak 2 between 2:43-3:12 is sick... I seriously love that tune, I almost wish they would've brought it at the forefront. (It's most audible during 3:02-3:12.)

Yea man I'm right there with you on that. Thats the kinda instrumentation that made me fall in love with this album. The riffing and Nate's voice just go perfectly together.

Exactly, there's so much detail in every song, it's ridiculous... And again, the other review by Lambda is also fantastic. I think it mentions that Nate "cared more about the sound than the meaning" of the lyrics. But still, they are quite personal and vague, so you can basically interpret every song in your own way, which is awesome.
I especially love that "Darkness mocks me with a broken compass" line in the second verse of Fireflies.
