Haven't logged in in for a lil while but when I did I saw this on the front page. The ratings so far indicate that it's the best album since A Night at the Opera. Is this really the case? Or perhaps we are seeing a bit of hype and the rating will lower over time? Just curious to hear from you guys on this, i generally trust this website's opinion on metal. Great rev btw awesome job.

They’re all (post-Opera) pretty close in my opinion.

Last year Helloween knocked it out of the park, now this...power metal is alive and well!

this one is good. i think the hooks are a bit patchy though, a lot of big grand moments but not quite as catchy as i was expecting for these guys. not really a big problem

Best album of the year so far, probably. Zeit (Rammstein) and Impera (Ghost) are pretty close though.
"Secrets of The American Gods" is so fucking good holy...
The entire album has so much power & energy.
"Last year Helloween knocked it out of the park, now this...power metal is alive and well!"
Agreed. Helloween's album was great too, although I may prefer this(?). "Fear of The Fallen" is amazing, as is "Skyfall", but the rest of the LP is relatively forgettable. Might need to relisten though.

Not super hot on this but the chorus of Life Beyond the Spheres is class

Damnation is sick

Anyone else feel like that first 5 tracks are bangers and then the rest are...just kinda eh...

Both half slaps for me, not just because of the songwriting, but also that the album is much shorter than something like Beyond the Red Mirror. Feels less sluggish and packs more punch.

Listened to this last night and was severely underwhelmed with how mushed and muted the sound was...
Thank God I decided to give it a relisten today. Increasing the volume from my default completely changed this from poor to fucking fantastic.
What a pulse pounding masterpiece. Every track is just a fucking banger

It's a good choice for AOTY. I gotta echo some ppl tho; the second half isn't as good. I enjoy listening to the whole album, but the first six tracks are ace and the last three are in the B/B+ territory
The album length makes it all feel great on multiple listens. Kinda nice to not have to go through 1h+ and enjoy what's there.

Fair enough.
I think Destiny gets much better after a while, it's such a strange song for BG, but it works.
