in a retrospective sense sure, but the word was created as a shortened term for melodic death metal and can 100% be used interchangeably. Also the second I start caring about retrospective genre labels like that is the moment I start taking these genres that keep appearing on RYM overnight like "pigfuck" seriously

Lol so I’m not the only one who noticed that Pigfuck is a thing again on rym now? Ridiculous. Even more so given it was already added and then promptly removed a couple years ago.
