Review Summary: If you are a Slipknot fan, you should pick this up. If you don't know these guys, you should still pick this up, because there isn't a bad song on here.

Stone Sour was a group started in 1993 and features the vocalist from the band Slipknot. Some people say that Stone Sour was a side project, but they started before. Stone Sour released a self titled debut album in 2002 and featured the smash hit "Bother", and"Get Inside". This album, "Come What(Ever) May", features all five of the bands members coming out in full force and put out a great hard rock record.

Stone Sour is:

Corey Taylor - Vocals
James Root - Guitar
Josh Rand - Guitar
Shawn Economaki - Bass
Ryan Mayorga - Drums

Corey Taylor and James Root are both members of Slipknot.

Stone Sour - Come What(Ever) May (August 1, 2006 RD)

I had never really heard of these guys, until i heard a few Slipknot songs a few years ago. I will have to say that this band grows on you. The album opener "30/30 150" is a song that gives you your Slipknot feel, as it was also the first Single released to the radio. There is a pretty cool interlude as well. The title track is well deserving is well deserving of the title. It opens up with a catchy intro. The Chorous is really good as well and Root and Rand wrote some really good guitar lines. The solo is pretty good as well. My favorite song is next. It's called "Hell & Consequenses". He lowers his voice to sound like the singer from Mushroomhead (a combination of J-Mann and Jeffery Nothing). Anyway, he is saying that he will give you Hell & Consequences for trying. The solo near the end of the song is very catchy.

After a hard rocking opening three songs and Corey Taylor singing and screaming, the intro for "Sillyworld" is a lot more soft. When he gets to the chorous, it gest back to the rate this CD was going. He is just saying he cant take our sillyworld no more. There is a solo at the end of this song that leads into the next. "Made of Scars" is pretty good, only that it could get repetative. A good track nonetheless. "Reborn" is the second single and it kicks off right from the get go. Corey is screaming in the chorous and it really sends a message, because you can still make out what he is tying to say. To me it sounds like Violence Fetish from Disturbed, but with a better guitar line. Very good song.

The next song is "Your God", and it slows things down a bit, writing more guitar lines with less distortion. The chorous speeds things up a bit near the end. The solo fits in perfect with the song. My personal favorite "Through Glass", is next, and is a very heart felt song. It is the third single from these guys and if you have only heard this song, you never would have thought that these guys are a hard rock group. "I am looking at you through the glass, don't know how much time has passed, all i know is that it feels like forever." These lyrics are really true and can relate to anyone. The only thing I don't like about this song is that ends abruptly, but they do a good job. "Soico" starts out with a guitar getting picked at really fast (or tremomlo, not sure). The other instruments make their way into it. Has an off beat, on beat chorous if you know what i mean. I can't explain it. Still a good song.

"1st Pesron" is a great song, as Corey can sing and scream at the same to get the point acroos, I also like to turn this way up, because of the guitar and bass. He uses the double bass very well and the instrumenst flow together perfectly. "Cardiff" has a wierd, but cool intro to it, being like a foreign type intro. The soft guitars in the verse and the build up to the chorous is great with this song. The chorous is a high singing voice which was bulit up in the prechorous. There is a sweet solo near the 3:30 mark, and then it goes into the Disturbed type song, but these guys do it well. "Zzyzx Rd." is a very different song, but a very good song nonetheless. It starts out with a piano playing very slowly and Corey Taylor singing probably the best I have head him sing. This song builds up and ends on a high note. The accoustic guitar and electric guitar kick in and provide some great solos. The key of the song changes from C major to E major. Everything ges softer and then fades out. A great way to end the album.

Pros - Everything ran smoothly
Not every song sounded exactly the same.
Use of piano in "Zzyzx Rd."
Guitar solos were good an pretty often.

Cons - Can get repetative
Sounds like it could have used more soft songs or add one more song.

Reccomended listens-
Hell & Consequences
Reborn
Through Glass
1st Person
Zzyzx Rd.

This is my review for Stone Sour - Come What(Ever) May. I hope you liked the way I reviewed it.

you spelled '1st person' wrong throughout the whole thing. that bugged me.

1. Don't ever say you're not sure. It makes you look bad.
2. Don't ever say you can't explain it.
3. Try and go into more detail about the feel of the song. EX: (Probably irrelevant to this album) The twin guitars gave off a slow buzzsaw feel.
4. Keep it at, you'll get it. It's still not bad for only being your 4th...This Message Edited On 08.02.06

i dont know what to say about the review. Honestly, it felt a little clustered. I think that instead of telling about 3 songs in one little paragraph, you should've just left them out. Thats the glory of overralls, you dont have to talk about every track. Just the ones that you think are worthy of the review. It was a great effort though, you'll have it down before you know it. Honestly, this is probably the best review that ive read of yours. Not saying that you write bad reviews, you just usually write TBT's.

Sadly i dont have this album yet. And I hope its worthy of the anticipation it made me go through.

meh, i could go without Drowning Pool, with or without Dave. Not that their not talented and make good music. Its just not what I would want to hear from Stone Sour.

Stone Sour is nothing like Slipknot.

I just speed read this, but it looked pretty good. I'll be checking out the album even though I thought Reborn was a pretty bad song.

i'll have to disagree, in Stone Sours debut album Stone Sour did resemble a bit of Slipknot, just because of Corey's rappish vocals here and there. And this album was a bit dissapointing in my eyes. Stone Sour "Stone Sour" >>Come What (Ever) May hands down
