Genuinely enjoying this quite a lot, reminds me of their severely underrated self-titled.

I also love their self-titled immensely as well, which is probably why my opinion is so off from everyone else’s here lol

TOTBL is one of my favorite albums of all time, but I just don't think i care about this band anymore. Every thing after Antics for me has just been a mixed bag at best, they can still make a good song every now and then but they just can't hold my attention for a whole album.

I’m still baffled by the fables hate on here though

idk what to tell ya, the guitar riff is clunky and overpowers the rest of the song, the pace is plodding, the vocal melodies aren't very compelling, and paul literally sounds like Miss Piggy in the outro

I also love the self-titled and this isn't anywhere near as cohesive as that record (let alone how it lacks a Success/Lights/Barricade-level song)

Just gave this is a first listen and dug it a fair amount.

However, my knowledge of this band is limited to a few listens to El Pintor over the years and maybe hearing Turn On The Bright Lights once, so I'm not really comparing this against anything else.

Yeah this just ain't it. I wish that it was, but it's not. Will always love their debut at least, and then everything after that is just completely w.e and might as well be a totally different band

More than half the songs here sound as if the band was improving. Not to mention the horrible singing, especially on Fables

If you're into detuned guitars harmonizing with shitty intonated vocals while your percussionist is banging a trash can for 4 minutes and the guy, who you mistakenly assumed was next to passing out, suddenly gets revived during the chorus and decided to pay you off with the only change in dynamics of the song that is a stolen early 2010's Imagine Dragons topline, then yes, Fables is great.

They’re just sounding more and more drab. It’s a bummer cuz El Pintor showed promise after their initial slump, but everything since has been so blah.
