Dillinger had a god tier 6 record run, a farewell tour that was announced to be their last, and have at least a dozen bands ripping off their style note by note.
It's disappointing that TDEP discussions always shadow Greg's work, as him and the rest of the guys were adamant as fuck to leave the band, even by the time Dissociation was just released. Let it go, who cares if you were born in 2006 and couldn't catch them live - I'm not sure a lot did even when they were at peak touring output.
This record is great, No More Lives To Go, Lowered, and the closer are favorites. Really can't wait for new The Black Queen either, as Infinite Games has become an all time favorite. I wonder how far Federal Prisoner will go with up and coming artists in the future..

This is a solid album, but I much prefer the more unpredictable, unhinged throw-everything-against-the-wall style of his first solo album to this.

'I know the guy has a reputation and a lot of ties to metal, but if he's looking to do something outside of that, so be it. I'd rather him explore new ground than do what other solo projects do and just redo glory days.'
Sure, I'd probably prefer it if he moved away from metal completely
'That's fair. He leans more into alt. metal and grunge here, with the tradeoff being flow and consistency. I think the arrangements absolutely still hold up though.'
and here's the problem, lol

this album is alright. def prefer child soldier
"I'd probably prefer it if he moved away from metal completely" [2]
yepp best track here is 'we' and all the best stuff from child soldier was the pop/electronic/industrial stuff... the less it resembles dillinger the better imo
album isn't bad by any means but i'm disappointed he went this direction

I agree with many comments here prefering Child Soldier to this. It's definitely not bad, but I love Puciato's softer side in his non-TDEP stuff, and this leans too much into grunge for my liking. It also feels more like a safe bet rather than an experimental opus that Child Soldier was.
My favorite track here is We, for obvious reasons as it's closest to his other synthpop-styled tracks. Otherwise the record felt a bit bland, IMO.

Guess it felt a lot more entertaining to me, but I appreciate y'all checking!

If it means anything, the review is pretty well written, enjoyed reading it. Wish I liked the album that much but it's still a worthy addition to Puciato's eclectic discography.

I wanted the bulk of this album to sound a lot more like Lowered. I was so excited when that first came out because I thought this was going to be more shoegazy. Lowered, We, and tracks 2 + 3 are really great but the rest are just okay. Child Soldier's lack of boundaries kept my attention more.

I quite enjoy the closer, probably the most. "We" is a close second.

Yeah, I love that album too. It touches on failed relationships in a way that is kind of haunting.

Really strange hearing him in this role after years and years of TDEP, but this ain't half bad. Can't decide if I actually like it yet though.

First album is definitely stronger, but the closer on here is one of the best songs he's done.

The closer here is definitely amazing and probably the best song on the album but Heartfree and September City are just too perfect at ending Child Soldier imo.

If Child Soldier was a bloated mess this album is the exact opposite. Greg is one of the best vocalists in metal but for some reason he refuses to use any sort of range and the result is a bland, uninspired slog.
