Yeah post-rock has become kind of a joke in recent years, from what i've heard anyway

Anyone looking for good non-GY!BE/Sigur Ros/Talk Talk/Slint post rock should take a look at Yndi Halda

you talk about post-rock being 'dead' or 'a joke' and then you recommend the one post-rock album that is literally everything wrong with modern post-rock in that it has no subtlety whatsoever

get the new leech album and the last years of rice and salt album and tell me post-rock is dead

it's not dead...genres can't die, i hate when people say that. just stagnant for the most part.

also I checked that song gwyn, not gonna lie, it did nothing for me :/

I haven't heard good post-rock in forever

only time I enjoy it is when it's integrated well within other styles

thats funny because 90% of post rock fusion genres i hear bore me even worse than the actual post rock genre itself

Funeral Diner was the only one I really enjoyed. probably aren't listened to the right bands though

good music that had post-rock elements in the past 2 years but isn't technically post-rock I guess:

Swans - The Seer

Chromatics - Kill For Love (just a few tracks I guess)

Burn Idols - Theodicy

Youth Pictures of Florence Henderson - Small Changes We Hardly Notice

Merchandise - Children of Desire

M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming

Mogwai - Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will

Nicholas Jaar - Space Is Only Noise

Spokes - Everyone I Ever Met

A Winged Victory For The Sullen - s/t

like yeah a bunch
