"Rat's Nest is definitely cool, and I love that they made it a climate change themed thrash concept album lol I just think it's something for already established fans. I wouldn't tell someone trying to get into Gizz to listen to it right away"
Completely agree. It's not a good representation of them and also, who would recommend thrash metal to anyone in 2022 lol.

Hey now, thrash metal is fun to bop to in the summer still

Ditto your comments Odal. Rats Nest isn't just the band going "hey look, anybody can play thrash metal, hurr durr", they went with the style as a means of conveying the album theme as well as pushing their musical boundaries even further. It's always cool to hear when they dabble with heavier music on this album and with tracks like KGLW and Great Chain of Being.

The writing seems to reflect otherwise.

Is The Rat’s Nest not a modern thrash classic? Invigorating the once benign genre and reinstating it’s relevancy?

Yea, this isn't very metal apart from a few tracks. Give it a try, it's full of good jams and melodies

That's what he said to me. Good album with a few metal tracks. I could do without. Will give it a try, though.

opener is a bit of a ripper even if stretched a bit thin. rest is a smattering of old gizz ideas and some new interesting ones, the rapping is surprisingly well incorporated
not really feeling this on the whole, tho. starting to feel their steam running out or their sound is growing off me

Interesting, since I feel the opposite. It's like finally I feel a whole album of theirs. For me it's a culmination
