This is even more aligned with 80s/90s country than Pony was and also much less obviously “alt” oriented so I guess it makes sense this will appeal less to fans of that style, which was definitely more rockist in its approach whereas this is very pop.

I’m sorry but the way he spells out Mississippi is hilarious

For the record, I 100% agree with Boney and don’t think of Pony as post-punk in the slightest, but questioning whether it was fully a country record was a big point of discussion. No denying it with this one (and yay Boney for coming around to it!)

And once again we will not stand for any M-I-S-S-I-S-S-I-P-P-I slander here

Yeah there is way too much stuff out this week. 2022 needs to chill out, I’ve already heard like 3 times as many albums as I had at this point in the year last year.

can we all agree regardless of our thoughts on this album that pitchfork has sacrificed what little journalistic integrity they might have had left by saying this guy can't sing

one listen to "Outta Time" should show anyone with ears that he knows how to sing, especially those last notes

Sowing is currently basking in a ray of sunlight shining through his window with a cowboy hat on crying to Let Me Drown but not letting on how much he's enjoying this in order to subvert expectations

“ The emphasis on the rhinestone icon inevitably highlights Bronco’s one failing: The album would be better if Peck could actually sing.”

Legit the quote from the review. I get not being a fan of his vocalizing style/choices, but to say he can’t sing is just like factually wrong
