Bejar just never misses. As for his 2010s output, I'd still put Kaputt and Poison Season above this, but I prefer this to Have We Met and maybe even ken. Time will tell.

gotta pick up the 5'ing slack since Sowing's not rating things lately.

Wait til the end of the year when Sowing majestically rides in, drops 300+ reviews and leaves his mark on the end of year lists.

This was really good, low 4 for me and best since Kaputt. June is really good and then All My Pretty Dresses comes in with modern sophisti-pop perfection. The album kinda loses the plot for a bit after that, but The States is excellent as well. Really nice instrumentation and production on this one.

A lot of people don't vibe with 'Tintoretto' but that's an all time Destroyer classic and best on the album for me

Thanks @Dylan620!

Glad to see this one's getting a pretty good reception.

I'm really liking the closer on repeat listens, it's kinda minimal compared to most of the album and really works.

The closer works even if as a standalone song it's not amazing

It's no 'Certain Things You Ought to Know' as minimal Destroyer closers go, def the 'weakest' thing here...but it's not aiming to be anything other than a cute closing track.

'You're just another person that moves to LA'

Yeah Doof, that's one of the most quotable lines on here. Of course, Destroyer always has more quotable lines than the average artist.

“June” is a jam.

Honestly there's a solid chance this could land as top 3 Destroyer for me.

'June' biggest grower for me, even the Arnie soundalike bit

Tintoretto was the song that made me realise this album was something special. Subsequent listens have revealed the other songs, but Tintoretto was the one that made me listen again with gusto, and is the reason Destroyer has a new fan.

Just came to see what Doofus had given this.

Now I feel like I should check it out.

this is very much catnip for doof and reheatings for destroyer, *but* Tintoretto is quite neat and definitely a highlight here. rest of the album kinda falls off

Catnip for Doof…and kitty litter for Johnny, meow ;P

Album will really come into its own in the summer months oh yeah

A whole album in the style of ‘Tintoretto’ would have been interesting though, maybe would be a bit too much

His nasally spoken-word parts are a bit much.

The above is to say that June slaps and especially the spoken part
