I think this is better than How I'm Feeling Now. I like how the vocals are less autotuned and the melodies are more graspable. I feel like HIFN was a little too all over the place, even if I admired the effort.

You may very well be right (about HIFN being cohesive, but possibly also about all her albums being a 3.2). I've just never been a fan of chaotic glitch pop, especially Holly Herndon's last LP; even Sophie took me forever to appreciate, and at the end of the day I still like Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides less than most people here. I don't know why I'm pulling these specific random references out, probably because I don't have much frame of reference, but parts of HIFN reminded me of less good versions of Sophie ig i dunno.

SOPHIE's totally a fair comp given she did production work on several other Charli projects, and was on the cutting edge of one of the main elements of the sound Charli's been pushing since she blew up her sound after Sucker

ah ok, so I wasn't imagining it then...I know very little about Charli, I sort of liked Boom Clap better than your average radio fodder, I totally skipped Pop 2, and listened to HIFN while bored during the pandemic lol. So this is the first time I actually had any sort of mild expectations for a Charli XCX album, and I think it's my favorite thus far. Good Ones is a true banger.

glitch pop is best as a fractured sadboi floaty artsy genre, so maybe you're onto something there tbh. i do vibe sophie and some of charli's more abrasive stuff, but imo the whole PC music wing was never really the most exciting for chaotic pop

go back and do Charli sometime, it's a total hit-or-miss grabbag but some of her best pop choons are on there
