“arrangements though sound gerrymandered on first listen.”
Did you just really want to use that word or something, because I have no idea what relevance it has to this album.

First spin was wonderful, this is the step up I was expecting from this band. Vocalist is amazing.

yeah, vox are the bomb
The greatest strength here lies in how much variety they packed into a core-sound of 'bluesy doom(?)' without it sounding forced, very impressive

Guess it was the trip-hop vibe in combination with the dissonance on some parts, I should listen again

vocalist is the business, wish there were more jazzy lead breaks

Agreed, the guitar solo in Suspended is delicious. Have you checked the previous album? It's their dark jazz flavoured one (I love the She Knows - Tulsi - White Stains stretch). Don't expect actual jazz tho

I need to check their other stuff, wouldn't say no to some dark jazzy goodness

we / Sabrutin was not talking about this album... Milo might've been with 'jazzy lead breaks' tho, hmm...

Yeah, all I'm talking is the end of the opener. Sounds like I need to backtrack, how exciting!

Unfortunately it's not a jazzy band in a complete sense yeah but the dark jazz influence in Feast for Water combined with the clean solo section in this album's Suspended makes me wish they'd give it a shot here and there.
If you want a taste of Feast for Water I recommend the duo She Knows / Tulsi which flow like a single piece and the latter is their jazziest thing so far I'd say

One of the most impressive things about this album is that they cover a fair bit of ground but it all comes together as a cohesive whole. They even incorporate blast beats in the middle of Rubedo and it sounds completely natural. Lots of interesting chord voicings peppered throughout the album, too.

Saw these guys live last night and they were fab, this was probably my favourite album from last year so hearing material off this live was great. Musicianship was superb and the usage of an 8 string bass and the occasional 12 string guitar usage adds a really cool dynamic.
The vocalist is superb live too.
