A lot of good ones on here.
Two Fingers
Fire Escape In The Sea
Fear Eats The Soul
Folly
Lakeland Echo
All wrapped around a decent album. Definitely will be in my top 5 aoty unless I forget about it come early summer which does happen a lot with this sort of shimmery guitar stuff.

It's not just you Sowing, on Tidal a bunch of songs won't play or just randomly cut out entirely, was excited to listen to this but no way in hell I'm doing it with YouTube quality lol

@Sowing, there are two versions of this album on Spotify (labelled the exact same), not sure how to tell the difference, the one plays correctly all the way through, the other does not (I got the wrong one on my first listen)

Ok good to know I'm not the only one haha. I tried to report the issue to Spotify but their bot assistant is not worth the time. I'll look for the good version, Sunnyvale.

Well dang there's only one version on Tidal

Hmmm, weird situation all around!

yeah first 3 songs played good for me, started having issues with the 4th and onward until the end of the album...

I'm guessing maybe there was a snafu because of the name change or? I dunno lol

Spotify can be really confusing with different versions of albums existing on the platform, probably due to different licenses in different territories, especially for older albums. Often the only version you can access through a band’s page is a remaster or deluxe edition but if you Google search you can find other versions with original tracklistings. I remember when I first listened to Slowdive the version of Souvlaki on the band page had a weirdly mixed up tracklist but I was able to find the proper version. TL;DR idk if this is a similar issue or if it’s an issue with the name change like Slex says.

Haha, nice... I had noticed that at least one song was fixed this week, but hadn't played the whole thing so I wasn't sure if all had been resolved (finally). Kinda remarkable how long it took, this band has a decently large profile.

Is 3.3 really this thing's average? It oscillates between power and beauty, and is still solid in its worst moments...

I was just thinking the same thing the other day, I don't think is AOTY material but this seems like to the type to be broadly popular with the Sput indie contingent, quite surprised the average is that low.

Yeah I agree, it's like the definition of a 4.0. Very consistent with some excellent high points, very listenable throughout to boot.

Have you heard any of their other material, Sowing? I think you'd dig most of their early stuff, if not

Nope not a single thing besides this

Ah ok! In my opinion, more of a songs band than an albums band, but their first three LPs are all very solid. Open Season might be my favorite of the bunch.

just out of curiosity is there a reason you're not rating stuff recently?
|

also i need to listen to this
