Quite enjoying it, im actually enjoying it more than QoT, and its interesting noting talk of trilogies, and their formula etc, which is sort of a double edged sword for me.

Its very satisfying on one hand, as its done so well, another great set of Amorphis tunes.

But i have found now with three quite similar sounding albums, and maybe even more, circle was pretty similar too, a little bit of a feeling they have forgotten what else they are capable of.

When you think of the early albums whilst all similar, i think there was more adventure and contrast.

I'm thinking Elegy through to silent waters. Every album in that run was different, of course elegy was very different to tales too, but that felt more like a transition of a band maturing and coming of age, as opposed to intentional stylistic swings and shifts.

So on one hand im really enjoying Halo, they really are one of the most consistent bands for me, im never disappointed, but at the same time if they do another, i really hope they do change it up. Maybe more acoustic elements, i keep wishing they do a 'jar of flies' or 'damnation' album and and shock everyone with a deliberate set of new songs more earthy, and acoustic.

Something like that.

Anyway, i like windmane a lot! I feel its a bit of a fresher chorus and sound than some of the others, i quite like the wolf as well. Its all pretty good!

> Oh man The Moon is so pretty.

Definitely the very best song on the album, it's so damn catchy. It's like the equivalent of "The Bee" from Queen of Time, for me.

Is everyone compiling their last three albums into a trilogy because the artworks follow a specific theme

I didn't dive into Pekka Kainulainen's lyrics, which derive from Finnish archaic poetry, but there's a common theme throughout the three albums, even if it's not a story per se.

After diving a lot into Amophis in the last couple of weeks (haven't really heard them before), this album is pretty much what I expected and I'm really satisfied. They really mastered their sound with this one.

"okay maybe i approached this wrong

listened again and it really came to life this time - especially the last half of the record"

Right there with you. It's improving with subsequent listens, after seeming initially flat for me.

No rating yet from me.

Pretty strong still. It feels like QoT for me, in that there's nothing offensive, but doesn't quite hit the highs of Red Cloud.

The more i hear 'A New Land', the more i'm struck how much it sounds like it could fit on the Elegy album. Its a real hark back to that sound and style.

The intro especially, but also that section around 1:30 mark that has that middle eastern sound, its a very Elegy sounding tune.

Just an observation.

that song seems to stick in my head the most off this album, something about the riffs on the chorus

Safe, but beautifully treaded waters from Amorphis. Not on the same heights as their last two albums, still full of great songs.
