New one is finally starting to click a bit. Might actually like it more than Elegy

I lost interest again lol, I might just be sick of deathcore in general though. I feel like the current style has mostly hit a wall and even the best bands aren't really doing much to keep it spicy, even if they execute things really well.

Can't disagree with that tbh.

Deathcore is def getting blander no doubt about that

Wait for it to come full circle where bands bring back the junz and open note chugs from the mid 2000-early 2010's and people call it revolutionary.

ngl i'll take that over every band trying to ape lorna shore

If we have to throw Shadow and Lorna in the same bag, I'd say the new one is how Lorna should sound and it doesn't. More guitar exposure, it's not a wall of sound all the time and we don't get a breakdown every 30 seconds.
I have two problems tho, but they were foreseeable:
1. since Melancholy we don't get memorable riffs;
2. since Elegy the symphonic bits are pushed back in the mix and it doesn't do them any favors.

And SoI’s breakdowns are actually well written. LS’s are just meant to be heavy and they typically are ham-fisted and stupid.

I thought the new one had a few great memorable solos too

SoI and LS are different enough in most ways that I just don't agree with many comparisons.
Honestly though, a lot of what LS does is fine with me, I even enjoy a good portion of it... BUT, their production is fucking awful, and I really do think that their breakdowns are the worst thing that has happened to modern deathcore. It became such a trend so fast, absolutely infected every up-and-coming band with a need to do something similar, and it sucks EVERY SINGLE TIME.
I'll never get over how much that otherwise god-tier Mental Cruelty album suffered at the hands of those abominations.

my problem isn't LS themselves (even tho i think they're boring af) it's the trend of bands chasing that to the hellfire hype. it's like a constant one-up contest of who can have the dumbest drawn out breakdowns or goofiest animal vocals possible. trying to become so eXtReMe has had the opposite effect and made the music unserious and comical. and it feels like all the music in between those sections is complete filler it's all in service of leading up to that reaction moment. i'll take the melo deaf rip off dxc of the 00's over whatever turd the genre is now

Agree. Vox are too overbearing on new one which is the problem with most deathcore. Big fan of this though and last years FFAA

Melancholy was nigh on perfect. This and the latest are still good albums though.
