"In recent years I’ve learned that I hate the singer’s voice though"

Same. Which is why I don't bother revisiting Comatose or Collide. I liked those albums a fair bit back in the day but I feel like I would ruin whatever good memory I have if I hear the singer's voice in those albums now.

Decent album, definitely their most consistent since Rise. Lots more passion and only a few ballads to break up the rockers. “Dominion” is a fun track, great guitar solo.

After more than 25 years: "The skillet is getting warmer!"

Nice review, pos'd. The album sounds like a typical Skillet album to me and I'm okay with that.

Very nice review, pos'd.
I was like "maybe I should listen to this, maybe I can overcome my nostalgia and enjoy them again", then I saw Gonzo's 1.5 and the feel turned into a "nah", lol.

I've always seen Skillet as a millennial Trapt

"But after spinning up 2019’s catchy single “Legendary,” my then-two-year-old son must have heard something in their formula that I did not. Thus, the album Victorious soon became a regular spin on the Saturday-afternoon coffee runs that became a staple of peri-pandemic toddler-parent life that served as a poor substitute to “date night” for my wife and me.

And a strange thing happened - I began to actually enjoy listening to Skillet."

This sounds a lot like Stockholm Syndrome...
