The entire critique by AMG just boils down to "I don't like progressive song structure and albums that are meant to be listened to whole, I want bangers with a predictable song structure". 2.5, really?

album fucking rules but tbh the production feels a lot less atmospheric than usual

I dont even need to hear this to know a 2.5 is a BS rating.

Contender for best metal album of the year?

I love AMG, they have great writers imo. doesn't mean I always agree with their verdicts though

Aside from the instrumentals, which i didn't think added anything to the record, this was a great listen

Yes it is a nice listen, this is good and heavy

AMG gave this a 2.5 lmao. Doesn’t surprise me though. They are obsessed with trad metal, prog metal and tech death. But I still use them to find what I like in the tag lines and other bands in bold. A recent example of a great find is The Breathing Process which is a superb symphonic MDM album they slapped a 2 on. Their reviews and ratings don’t mean much to me

"Contender for best metal album of the year?"
Fortunately, the year has seen strong metal releases. I'd say it's likely to end up in my top 10.

Congrats for the review mate! Really well written. As for the album, i have to prepare for a consecutive triple full listening, 5 years is a long time....

Thanks man, I appreciate it. Good call, the album needs multiple listens to sink in, but it will be worth it.

I've been listening to only this album for the last week, gotta say I haven't gotten tired one bit of it. Probably the crowning jewel of their career, showcasing every aspect of their signature sound while adding a new atmosphere and layer of uniqueness
Also, great review, especially agree with the part about blast beats "Blast beat sections are something the band should use more often as they lend greater dynamism to a formula that rarely strays off the comfort zone. "

Cheers StormChaser. Yeah, I do believe they would generate more rhythmic diversity and contrast, as long as they were not overused. I re-listened to the album yesterday on a business trip and I'll have to say it was a hell of a ride.

Tto me this sounds like last record with better production. that is not a bad thing at all. I agree with Nash, that is the first thing that I heard when I first listened to these guys. Yes this vocalist sounds way better, Daniel sounds fuckign awful nowadays but he sounded good on that crowns record
