was going to skip this show but you convinced me to go Nomos

It was a great one!
Hope you enjoy Anthracks too!
Yeah even in my 20s it was hard for me to catch 4 acts. Nowadays it's only doable if there's somewhere I can lean to bring relief to my knees and hips. Snagged a great spot against the metal fence in front of sound check! Archspire lit a birthday candle on a cupcake on stage and had the crowd cradle it and pass it all the way to their sound guy, as it was his birthday. I love that they don't take themselves seriously one bit. I just wish they played longer than an hour!

when i saw defeated sanity there were 3 (or maybe even 4) openers, and literally half the audience left by the time DS played. sad and ridiculous but it's a lot of metal

The 3 openers were kind of a lot to sit through but it was a damn good show. The drummer kinda struggled to keep his kicks on time during Abandon the Linear (which was extra jarring and noticeable cause of triggers) but he got it together after that and the rest of the band killed it
Highlight of the show has to be getting 2 people from the pit up on stage to do shoeys (filling up one of your shoes with a beer and chugging it), one of them being a girl who did not understand the assignment, who then proceeded to start stripping instead of taking her shoe off

Calgary, so you must be up in Edmonton?

Nice! Yee dude I'm in Edmonton. First time we've ever been the first show of any tour I can remember. Good turnout in Calgary?

By the time Archspire hit the stage it was packed and the pit/front of stage area was pure chaos, but at the start when Alluvial was playing there were maybe 6 dudes in the pit pushing each other around. I was on a slightly elevated area like 2 feet behind the pit so I had a perfect view of it the entire time, was deeply amusing

That's awesome! For us, the venue was packed by the first act, which is rare.

Aborted frontman brought that goofy death metal dad energy, I had no idea what to expect from them but they killed it

Alright now it's my night to break my neck, seeing them tonight

ENJOY!!!
|

Goofy Death Metal Dad Energy lol. True. But in the best way imaginable. The guy had a ton of energy and was really enjoying himself on stage, and that makes any set a winner

Yeah that was an absolute blast, my body hurts but worth it. They all killed it, my favs were Alluvial and Archspire (kind of bias) but great vibes and energy, moshed twice but everyone was super kind and luckily nobody in there just to fuck someone up like you get sometimes.

The fuck, Spencer just left the band. Crazy bastard will be hard to replace. Also makes me even more annoyed that Anthony Barone is wasting his talent in All That Remains, he's on the short list of guys I'm aware of that could be worthy of that spot.
