OR contender for best on the album. [2]
Derp, new page. I shouldn't have even bothered

Saw them played in Boston this past Sunday. I’m still mixed on the album as a whole, but I will say that what they played did benefit from a live setting. I still feel that this one is a big step in quality from Palms.

It's in the same register. I rate Palms a little bit more for its really good first half.
I feel like both records could benefit from some track reshuffling.

Palms is easily their worst album, though I haven’t jammed identity crisis. This was surprisingly enjoyable. Feeling a strong 7 to light 8

Any particular reasons you dislike this new Thrice or just burnt out on them in general?

Saw them in Chicago the other night. They have steadily become one of the better live acts around over the course of their career. They sound incredible live.

@Veldin
It's just so safe and boring compared to their earlier work.

Nah this is solid. The best they've done in years. I am curious where they go with part 2.

Well considering Major / Minor was ten years ago, that might be technically correct. I haven't really cared for any of their reunion stuff, though To Be Everywhere was my favorite of it.

This is more interesting than both TBE and Palms (at least to me). Thrice are my favourite band and I love all their albums but I think this one is actually one of their best ones so I don't get the 3.2 at all.

On my 4th full listen, and it's head and shoulders better than Palms. No one track sticks out, but everything is at least very good. If I had to pick a favorite it's probably Still Life.

Gave it another go. It's definitely good, but I think the standout tracks on Palms give it the advantage.
The dude's voice is certainly a highlight of both records, though.

spun this a couple times in full yesterday and I think I am finally enjoying this quite a bit. Dustin just sounds a bit rugged, tired and samey throughout a lot of this and it was putting me off but hey, maybe thats just getting old.
This is actually a pretty fun alt rock album. I feel like its top notch radio rock.
