I really think it's as simple as this. Is there any essence of technical skill or creativity? Either can offset a 1 to 1.5 or 2. This has no creativity whatsoever, but the technical skill isn't 'God, please fucking end me.' it's more 'this shit is terribly boring and the instrumentals suck'.

if that works for you then great [:

imo every album starts at a 0/5 (maybe a 0.5/5 if we're being nice and applying the RYM system) and builds up from there depending on how much i enjoyed it, and other subsidiary factors. which means the majority of music probably should rate at about a 2/5 or so, tho tbh most albums in that ballpark I don't finish ergo don't rate, which is why I still have relatively few ratings lol
i've just accepted that "objective ratings" don't really work and are too much deliberation.

"When there's shit like Brokencyde or Onision's albums, I don't think this album quite warrants a 1"
I'm pretty sure brokencyde is actually satire though. Look at their album titles

"I'm pretty sure brokencyde is actually satire though"
they're not but they never took themselves seriously at all

Which is why this is worse, it's so fake

I think the conclusion I made from this conversation is that rating systems are arbitrary and at the end of the day the music is either worth a listen or isn’t.
|
| |
maybe this is the conversation the tramp stamps were going for all along
must 5 this now
|
| |
This shows in the new comment area as "we got drunk and mad" and that's a better album title

this EP is so bad omfg, dudes will be unnecessarily mean to genuinely inoffensive crap but this can't just be 1'd and done that's so funny

all along, tramp stamps were really the friends we made along the way.

for example, tranqyl, i fail to see how this is better than Father of All. but i guess i'm in the minority, because i think that was kinda okay.

>I think the conclusion I made from this conversation is that rating systems are arbitrary
god bless, ive done my job then

Album Rating: 1.0
yeah its all arbitrary nonsense but i prefer for it to follow some level of pseudo objective logic, there's no way this would be better than an album thats worst crime is just being a bit dumb and boring

follow what u want

Personal preference I guess. I think I just gave that album a one because of how hard Green Day has fallen. But yeah, park is right that none of this shit is objective or all that worthwhile for any more than categorizing your own feelings on an album.

yeah id drop a hard 1 here and a 3 on FoA, for all its faults, its at least better than the trilogy and i had fun with it

This band isn't an industry plant so much as it is a bunch of industry insiders cynically trying to capitalise on a trend they think exists, which is probably the antithesis of punk. This is the auditory version of the "how do you do, fellow kids" meme. brokeNCYDE may have sucked, but at least the kids did seem to like it.
Also, wasn't the main reason this got flak its rapey lyrics?
|
| |
Tbh this is bad enough on its own terms that whatever industry connections the band members may or may not have is prob the least damning aspect of their whole thing
Like "I'd Rather Die" does not suddenly become excusable if this band can pass whatever sniff tests of authenticity we want to subject them to
