The vocals definitely get a bit samey after 15 20 30 minutes of the same thing. My favorite part of this album is the lone, repeating stab of distortion that goes on for like a minute and a half to finish the first track.

Some of you expecting she would do prog after 3 albums smh. She's among the few artists whose albums I can put on repeat and never get bored of it. So much with so little, and there's the magic.
But to each their own I guess.

My commentary is genuine and this is my most listened to album of the week. Still haven't sorted out my feelings, but now that I've listened to it three or four times I'm sure I will hear lots more midwife in the future.

Agree with Slex, that album is carried hard by those two songs. None of the other tracks hold up to them and that spoken word song goes on so long and I get nothing out of it.

only song not landing with me here is 2020, too memey or whatever. everything else is really enjoyable.

I don't dislike Forever, although I do think it's her weakest effort. I have it at 3.5, although it's closer to a 3 than a 4. Just inconsistent in my book, but the two best songs are quite incredible.

She was going through pretty extreme grief when she made Forever so I feel like it makes sense that most of it sounds so flat and kinda worn out but it's just not an engaging release overall
