when he pushes his voice to an almost-yell I get a lot of Conor honestly. on top of that it's really the crazy drums and horns playing off each other, takes me back to like Den Mother (best song on Albatross btw)
but ayo nice rating

Yeah I still don't hear it haha. Conor's yell is very distinct and sounds nothing like this guy, who isn't quite as talented but makes up for it with better lyrics.
Anyway, this is amazing and I can't stop listening to it. No clue what my favorite song is right now but the ending to In The Space Between Pages is so emotional and hits me in the gut every time.

yeah gotta say i hear no mwy, foxing, or trophy scars on this
mostly just hotelier and dear hunter but I'm not disappointed in the slightest.
still gotta do my big second relisten but my biggest complaints first time around were that
-minus Cicada part 2 nothing immediately stood out to me for the rest of the June meets July saga after "at a Dance Where The Stars Crossed" (still good though, just a lil less enthralling) last 3 songs post that saga made up for it though. great closer.
-not the most dynamic sounding album, at least not immediately to me. i can basically divide the moments into the most generic columns of slow/chill and upbeat and everything within the two would sound strikingly close to the other members with the upbeat songs being what i prefer. i'll see if i still feel that way after another listen cuz tbh i felt pretty similarly about The Dark Dark Bright (an album that this also somewhat, emphasis on somewhat, reminds me of) and now it's one of my hardest 5's so go figure.

I feel like that I should'nt like it that much as I do, but I do .. I listened to it 3 times and it is long yes. I did not feel it needed to end. It is so much different from the other stuff I listen. Somebody in the posts here already compared it to Conor Oberst and I feel exactly like I was listening to early Bright Eyes albums. I love it.

The vocals also reminds me of something i listened to a lot back in High School. I want to say it is reminiscent of the vocals from the first Jamies Elsewhere album if im not mistaken

It's weird if this had dropped in 2014 when I first got into this band I think it would easily be top three albums for me, but I don't know, I think the cleanness of the sound means it's slightly lacking for me. I'm someone who really really dislikes Dear Hunter after album 3 and Coheed after album 2. Really prefer the prog to stay emo haha. And I like that Adjy do that but yeah, if he pushed his voice a bit more like his old band Solia Tera, which was just like the straight shouty twinkly emo version of Adjy then i would dig it way more. Still think it's fantastic and that I've listened to it like 15 times since it's come out says a lot for an album so long. (also really shows what just having good lyrics can do - feels like a waaaaay less cringe version of Forgive Durdens Musical which like I love but appreciate it's ridiculousness - though Max Bemis as a Spider is inspired - Aaron Weiss as a narrator... hmmm not so much)
