Worst part is I could have seen them play 2 hours away with mastodon the year before but due to money and school I wasn't able to make that one

i'd sit through (or just show up late) any number of shitty (granted i think mastodon are great but you get the point) opening bands just to be able to see opeth. they're just that good

they're unpredictable. sometimes bad sometimes great, you never know what you're gonna get. i'd say they're totally worth going to see, especially if you are a fan

"mastodon not good live?"

they sound good but they're just boring to watch. you'd be better served to just blast their records at home. no stage presence or command, no intensity or enthusiasm whatsoever.

Man everyone goes on about how much of a classic this is. I just can't seem to get there ay. Still brilliant just not feeling the same sense when blackwater park, ghost reveries and heritage clicked for me.

everyone has their favorite opeth albums so its all good if you're not particularly digging this one. don't sweat it. the fact that you're jamming opeth in the first place shows you're doing something right

For whatever reason this just doesn't manage to hold my attention like the albums that came before it do.
