I'll never understand how people love a song whose lyrics are "What's with these homies dissin' my girl / Why do they gotta front?" but find a way to hate everything else that Weezer has done lol.

First half of the album is great. Second half is good enough.

Weezer's lyrics have always been garbage ngl

End of the Game just happens to have good guitar work and rhythm is all.

Most of the songs here have good guitar work, rhythm and hooks. What do people actually expect from Weezer?

yea and it set the bar high enough that this sterile album comprised almost entirely of hastily rewritten demos that were massively better in their demo form lands with a thud tbh

I'll take your word for it about the demos. With the exception of the Crazy Train tune this didn't sound any more sterile or hastily rewritten than anything else they've put out in the last 20 years and it's more fun than most of it.

Honestly, I was shocked by how much I like this. I'm still, for some reason, a Weezer fan but I had low expectations. There's more here than just silly 80s worship. Everything from a Bizkit esque breakdown in 1 More Hit to Sheila Can Do It sounding like a Shins song are just a couple of little fun surprises. Looks like dinner is being served in the dumpster and I'm eating right out of it.

I just realized Sowing wrote this and that makes me sad (while I fully understand your stance). Funny to me that I'm spinning this (a 2) and Million Masks of God (which you 5'd) at the same time haha - music, man

First track isn’t too bad. But yeah, Van Halen did it better

Can you imagine when they tour with this alongside Green Day playing Father of All Motherfuckers and Fall Out Boy still trying in vain to support MANIA

They were a lot younger when they wrote the blue album, so the lyrics fit the vibe. Also Jonas and SIAS have good lyrics.

and “You take your car to work, I’ll take my board” is iconic.
