Damn, I would have guessed you gusta'd it. Is it too abrasive?

Nah, shoddy production is my jam (Lamp of Murmuur was one of my favs of 2020) - I'd probably need another dedicated listen to really pinpoint my thoughts, but largely my reaction listening to it was indifference

wish he didn't backload the album with the ambient tracks and spread them out and/or expanded on them to be more than just ambient tracks.

Ye, "Thorns" is such an enchanting song!
My personal favourite is "In The Garden". The early Burzum vibes are the real treat!

"... this is romantic black metal."
Yes! well put. That's how I would characterize it as well.
Giving this a STRONG 2.5... I feel like I'm being too harsh, but there's something that doesn't quite click with the vocals for me. Absolutely love the instrumentation / ambience.

Somehow his vocals on "Amid the Stars" remind me at times of Nocturno Culto's vocals on "Under a Funeral Moon" minus the echo. (especially "Natassja in Eternal Sleep", I think)
