"one of the worst bands ever" at least not the worst!
Languid for some, mature for others, it's totally the opposite to the first 2 that's for sure, but at least they have improved significantly over the last two.

Always dug Caleb’s voice, very Joe Cocker-ish. Fairytale is a good tune, nice atmosphere

Got a soft spot for only by the night but otherwise always rather boring.

The Bandit and Time In Disguise have become some of my all-time favorite KoL songs after dozens of repeated listens, but I can't feel the same about most of the others on here.
Songs like 100,000 People and Golden Restless Age seem to meander around forever without any real standout moments. I much prefer the bouncier, energetic songs here.
Great review, though.

Phero upon much research for the review trying to understand the intricacies the, mysteries, the occult arts of cryptocurrency I found myself in a slump of marketing paraphernalia and hollow terms taken from Mr. Robot so I invited myself to lower the veil on the matter and forget I ever came in touch with such seemingly unholy concepts.
tl;dr haven't bought shite

A KOL album with atmosphere? I'll take it.
|

By atmosphere, that just means they increased the amount of spring reverb on the guitars

Haven't listened to these guys since the pigeon-shits-in-bassist's-mouth incident, not that that had anything to do with why . . . but it kinda did?

"What producer would be your choice Teal?"
I think Angelo Petraglia captures their sound the best. That being said, I'd love for KOL to take a risk and work with Nick Raskulinecz. Nick produced an album by Dream the Electric Sleep that is cut from a similar cloth of KOL and it sounded incredible. Plus, both Nick and KOL make/record music in Nashville. Seems like an ideal match to me.

Petraglia would be my choice, after all my favorite KoL was produced and co-written with him, but the fact he also produced Mechanical Bull is a sign that the team has become stagnant, and I guess that's why they changed producers for Walls. Never heard of Nick Raskulinecz but sounds like could have been interesting yeah. Gotta check that Dream the Electric Sheep band.

Interesting pick. I've always associated Nick Raskulinecz with hard rock/metal. He has produced albums that are considered "weak" within each respective band's discography, like with Rush's Snakes & Arrows, One By One from Foo Fighters or Mastodon's Once More 'Round the Sun. But then he has produced highly acclaimed albums like Diamond Eyes, Koi No Yokan, Black Gives Way to Blue, Clockwork Angels, etc. I'd say he's pretty underrated so I'll definitely listen to that Dream the Electric Sleep album.

Thanks, banana. If you've listened to it by now, what did you think? Could Nick be a potential match for KOL?

Man sorry for getting back so late. After listening to the album you recommended I honestly found it drastically different from this (very good at first listen, though). Not to say he wouldn't be a good match for them but then again he is pretty much a hit or miss producer. IMO Brendan O'Brien would be a better fit for them.
