The Lusty Argonian is a classic among classics.

I am probably gonna hate this but I feel I need to check it. Fun write up Ben!

"‘So, noone here digs the opener?‘

Best track here, I was expecting decent things after the first couple of minutes. All downhill from there unfortunately."

Level 1 completed - now what do you have to say on a track like Valkyrie or Hypogelum?

"ddd say experimental hip hop again I fking dare you" its mentioned in the rev, because its true bb.

I unequivocally deny the accusation that I used the phrase "experimental hip hop"

I instead made a meme-y reference to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qap5aO4i9A

It can be kinda great tho. If you push the right buttons and not expect for Part III / Part IV part II.

At this point we all could get they will never do what you expect, since Part III / Part IV is quite different from Perpetual, and Perpetual from portals etc...

This is def not a serious/ depressive take as previous works. That kind of expectancy makes this a bit misunderstood by many imo.

"Phase Out throws nuance completely out the window"

This is, flat-out and objectively wrong. There is a ton of harmonic and timbral nuance here that weren't present on any of their previous material. I feel like Sput only cares about riffs and complexity, sometimes, and is deaf to things like harmonics and timbre.

I can only assume it's because you can't actually hear it. It continues to baffle me that people who love music enough to join a music community don't feel it necessary to invest in quality audio gear, because if you had decent gear you'd be able to hear quite clearly how much is going on here and how much nuance there actually is.

@Alondite hi, hello there, nice to meet you, hope you're doing well.

appreciate the feedback. I would flag that my use of the word "nuance" was in respect of lack of nuance in the way the record balances/channels its genre-influences imo when compared with III/IV (as alluded to by the first half of the sentence and general theme of that para), not harmonic/timbral nuance (although, tbh, i didn't notice much of that here either). i can certainly appreciate that you may find more such nuance in this than i do, and tbh great for you (im glad you therefore presumably enjoyed this), but im preeeeetyyy sure it has nothing to do with the quality of my headphones or my ears which are, objectively, very good (my ears in particular are very expensive ears). many thanks have a good day now take care.

The problem is you never actually want to do all of those things simultaneously. Also that sounds like a logistical nightmare, one which is represented quite fittingly by this very confused end result.

If that was the intention I should probably 5 it. Genius.

I think its kinda coherent for the album's aesthetic, like it or not, the album follows the same language all along, and as whole it doesn't even overstays to call it bloated or something like that. Even when they exp....nevermind, I want to keep Johnny sane XD

honestly kind of expected this to be a both a much bigger departure from their normal material than it actually is and also much much worse. i thought it was gonna be straight up 8bit/chiptune music.

this is so much better than the new HORSE the Band ep lol
