If the music is anywhere as beautiful as that cover then I'll love this.

Thanks for showing these guys, smaug. It seems it's right up my alley. Drums are omnipresent, but I guess I can live with it. Drums sound a bit too ambitious, but it's just me.

how a thread about plini really gonna turn into a thread about erra and textures

even doja cat is of more relevance to plini than that kinda jam at this point

Really loving Perfume. Production on this is immaculate, too.

Nice to hear from you again jethro! Yes, plini maybe could have more passages devoid of drums because he has already shown he is excellent at it, like on paper moon or inhale, but it’s not a problem for me personally

What I love about the drums is that they are intricate af but are never in the way for me. I can listen to the music without really noticing them too much but when I do boy is there a lot to explore and love.

"he has already shown he is excellent at it, like on paper moon or inhale"

Yeah the entire End of Everything EP is a masterclass in subtle but incredibly detailed drumming.

The double bass bits on this are the coolest I've heard in ages.

Drums being omnipresent is a great thing imo

Something about this reminds me of Thank You Scientist. I don't listen to the genre so I apologize if that's an awkward comparison, just my first thoughts as I'm halfway through this.

for more of jazz fusion side, Hiromi - Alive, for more of prog metal side, Stephen Taranto - Permanence. Owane - Yeah Whatever has a similar sound to this where it's a nice combination between the two.

Not a bad comparison instrumentally Sowing; both have strong jazz fusion and math rock influences

a tad bit of thank you scientist yeah, this and Sunhead EP are his most jazzy pieces, his earlier stuff is more prog metal based

some of these wonky guitar lines are probably supposed to be jazzy but they feel more like wankery to me on first listen
enjoyable album otherwise
