Walking to school in 1995 listening to ‘The World Won’t Listen’ aged 15 was life changing stuff.
I’d eagerly speak to mates elder brothers and sisters about them and barring the odd one they all thought the band was shite and it only endeared me to them even more.

I figured they might have went through a mini-renaissance with the release of (500) Days of Summer, what with indie darlings JGL and Zooey being like "you LIKE the SMITHS?!", but maybe that's niche

Met quite a few fans in my time some you’d never expect for instance a proper fucking ‘wigger’ type. In his bedroom he had every album on CD and said it was his bird who got him into them and he absolutely loved them. His fave band.
Have met a few die hards as well. Some right nutters.
