Dark Tranquillity was never corny, but that track's ending definitely is. I think it would be good if it were a minute shorter, this way every moment of the track feels like it wants to get to the chorus and chug it out a million times. It's not a bad song per se, just boring / bland songwriting, which these guys are not usually accused of

Identical is one of the better songs in the context of the album for me, and I don't mind the key change. I didn't listen to it much when it was released, but it's grown on me. Catchy

Yeah there are sections of songs I like and others I really don't, so I tend to sometimes listen to the songs in a choppy way. Guitar tones are pretty bland as well overall



I've come back to this album a couple of times after breaks between listening sessions and it's not really growing on me

I dunno about that, with the variety of albums they've put out and everyone's rankings for their favorite albums all over the place, it's pretty unlikely for any one person to like all their albums immediately. I for one only started appreciating Character a couple days ago, it used to be among my least favorites.
