I take it you're talking about the key change right at the end of the song because thats the only one I hear. I don't see a problem with that. Seems like a strange thing to be bothered by

There are lots of "unpleasant" chord progressions and chord choices throughout the album Imo

“Unpleasant” isn’t generally how I’d describe DT melodies, they’re generally pretty heckin nice and I don’t think that’s changed here

Transient's intro/chorus is so addicting, one of those "sounds like the artwork" thingies

In the chat after yesterdays concert, Mikael Stanne (or a troll claiming to be him) said that the vinyl of Moments was mastered for higer dynamic range. Has anyone here compared CD and vinyl and is able to confirm this?

Alright have listened through this a few times now. It’s good but just a little too by the numbers for me and a tad over polished.

Fave tracks for now are phantom days, ego deception and a drawn out exit.

@Izildur: I've listened to both, and the vinyl is definitely a dedicated master. The digital version sounds very good anyway but the vinyl has slightly different imaging and more "air" on the drums and vocals.

Most vinyl releases will have a higher dynamic range for different reasons, one is the nature of the format itself even with the same source master will have a higher DR on vinyl, another is the general guidelines for vinyl mastering require more conservative cuts for both high and low pass filters which will increase DR by removing unnecessary build up frequencies.

yeah if an act as big as A7X can do it (HttK, The Stage, Diamonds 2020 are all more or less dynamic) then nobody has an excuse

Finally got around to listening to this for the first time and found it to be incredibly whelming. Nothing really stood out except for the guitar solos, but most songs were unmemorable. I feel like 3.5 is generous. It's competent as expected but didnt really hold my interest anymore than construct or atoma. I'm also kinda tired of their use of discordance in their riffs to make their verses more interesting. A lot of it just comes off as jarring on first listen.

On my 5th listen and just bumped up to a 4.5

Album is amazing, each song I like more and more as I hear them. The MOOD they have set with this record is incredible. Sure, past albums have better songs on it, but this is a very COMPLETE album and I am in love with it.

Long time lurker and finally decided to participate, might as well make my first comment here.

Only finished my first listen but I already find myself agreeing with the review. Mood is consistent with what DT has been doing since Construct, but Moment as a whole feels heavier. Might just be confirmation bias since I know guitarists are new and I haven't listened to the other albums in a while but guitar tone seems thicker than in any other album I remember.

Honestly pleasantly surprised, I can appreciate the melancholic mood of the previous albums but the songs themselves (on Atoma in particular) were pretty meh, and here it seems like the songwriting finally caught up to their vision. Definitely looking forward to future listens.

My main issue with Moment. Way too many dissonant song parts not really connected to each other. Some of which are not bad per se but they get developed in the really non-harmonic way. Atoma already had this but going back to it I find out it was way better in these terms.

No it's not, not every kind of metal music goes well with that. Not saying everything should be DR2 but at the same time not everything should be DR10+.

Yes that's the one. It gives me a schlager/Disney vibe that I find to be incredibly cheesy. It is not what I usually associate with or am looking for when I listen to DT

Eyes of the World and In Truth Divided are quite catchy.
