Colton: Magic and The Rising are more varied in sound IMO, but the quality on the new one is nearly as good. The new one has a nostalgic, wholesome Springsteen feel. And at his age and the state of the world, that makes sense.

I agree with wham. For me, his golden era are his six first studio albums. All are really amazing.

Are Magic and The Rising the best offerings of his post golden era? I've never heard em and I'm kinda interested which ones you think are best.

I absolutely loved The Rising....very emotional post 9/11 subject matter.....one of his very best albums in my opinion

i remember loving wrecking ball when it came out, but i think this might be better than that one

Titan, i have to say I have never heard the Rising although I own it, to me it was another flag flying cash in on 9/11, I wanted and needed things not to be about 9/11, escapism. I have a few of his more recent work but for me his career is Nebraska and backwards. and throw in Tom Joad from the early 90's
when I watch him now it just seems hokey to me, maybe Im too harsh
is this along the lines of his broadway show? which was very much a story telling show

I wasn't impressed with The Rising, and I only liked Magic a little better. I actually thought Western Stars was his best album since the mid-'80s.

I don't think I'll ever listen to this man's entire discography, so all I can say is I really enjoyed this. He's still got game.

"I love Bruce however over the last decade he has gone off the deep end. He has become a weird rendition of himself, uncomfortably nostalgic and sensitive."
I kinda know what you mean, although I've still liked some of the releases as a whole (The Rising, Magic and Wrecking Ball). This doesn't blow me away but there's still some great songs I'd add to a playlist. Janey needs a shooter and Rainmaker are top notch.

Ghosts is, without a doubt, the opening song they go with on the new tour. That song is huge!

'I put The Rising above the River and Born in the USA.'
I think I do too.
Wham bro, the songs are really strong in my opinion, especially the back end of the record, and I never saw it as him cashing in on 9/11. You can feel his emotion in most of those songs. As a local boy to NYC, I was able to relate to his sentiment. I worked down on ground zero for 68 straight 12 hour days. The experience was surreal.

Man Power of Prayer is hitting hard for some reason. Love the pianos.

I hear you Titan bro maybe I will get it a listen, I guess by the time it came out I was done with the whole fake patriotism thing, I wasnt horribly effected by the whole 9/11 thing the closest I got was my dads building in Chicago then the Sears tower was evacuated and we had to go pick him up because the train lines were down, so I dont have that I was there urge to make this record important to me.
The Rising is a good song, but I guess I unfairly dissed the rest of the record

his first album came out in 72 I believe almost 50 years ago
