kraut prog rock influenced indeed, I find that quite appealing as well

Yeah, wish they expanded in that direction a bit more

Outside of that one song, im not really hearing much of the krautrock

Yep, it's fleeting and honestly not that great. Now if they'd managed to incorporate krautrock into their core black-metal sound in a way which blended the two into something new entirely, then that would've been impressive. This current example just comes across as a half-hearted attempt at something progressive 'just because we can' - it's a cute little oddity, but not particularly interesting.

I see it as a glimpse into what the band could do in the future and honestly it just makes me excited about it.

Excellent review. IMO, these guys are still in top form, which is amazing considering the length of their career. I'm somewhere between a 4.0 and 4.5 on this one.

So confusing to me that this is their lowest rated on here in nearly 20 years, I'm actually enjoying this one more than all of the albums since Axioma...I mean, it's Enslaved, so they're all brilliant albums. A whole bunch of these songs slap though. Took me a couple of listens to really enjoy, but now I can't stop listening to it.

This one gets better with each listen. Enslaved can do no wrong.

Great discog. Frost tracks killed it live.

yeah one of the few bands that has evolved into something completely different over the years but never actually made a bad album. the low points are around axioma and the one after it but even those arent really bad, just kind of boring and uninspired.
vertebrae is still their best tho.
|
| |
>the low points are around axioma
you wot
|

after how good vertebrae was i was kind of disappointed in those few albums. they tried to capture the same spirit but just werent as inspired.
like i said not bad albums by any means, just not ones i personally care for. i liked them much more when they went back to essentially full prog.

| |
im just kinda surprised someone thinks the low point isnt blodhemn

Blodhemn, Eld, Vertebrae, and E are my least favourites from the band.
Their first two albums are on par with their best prog-era material.
