Been a full-blown BOC fan since the first time I heard a full album of theirs, which was Cultosaurus Erectus in 1983. This is surprisingly good. I like almost every song on this album more than almost every song on their previous two albums. This one actually sounds like a Blue Oyster Cult record.

I’m really surprised how heavy the track “Stand and Fight” turned out. Reminds me of a Megadeth “Symphony of Destruction”-type song. Vocal delivery also kinda reminiscent. Shame the song isn’t really nearly as good.

“The Alchemist”, on the other hand, is excellent and the guitar solos are quality on this throughout. It’s really quite an enjoyable record, tbh.

i wasn't overly impressed with the singles they released but then when i listen to the entire thing now , theres so many great melodies and songs on it, they kind of misled people who just heard the singles, i think. i hope more people listen to the whole album

Pleasantly surprised how good this is. Much more optimistic about Ghost Stories now. The Alchemist is fucking incredible btw. Shocked that they made a career highlight whilst in their 70s.

Learning more about what Ghost Stories actually is (resurrected material which was cut, collected over the years, and reworked) this is no longer surprising lmao



I’m super pumped for it though. The singles are both really cool. I was expecting/hoping for The Symbol Remains pt. 2, but I think this will sound like a missing link that went missing in the 70s.
