Biggest surprise of the year, given the singles. They go very well with the flow of the album. Limelight as a centerpiece is perfect.
And that artwork is cool as fuck.

Cheers polla, you're in for a treat.
Agreed gravity, I love when kinda lackluster singles show their trve potential within the album's context

Look at these baby contribs already pulling their weight ;-)
Nice review, I've actually never once listened to Touche Amore. The similar band listings with mewithoutYou and La Dispute make it awfully tempting.

Not a fan of Jeremy's attempts at clean singing or the pop-punk'y parts here, but so far I like it a bit better than Stage Four. That one did not connect with me musically at all, even though the subject matter I could fully relate to.

eheh
Sowing, they are much more hardcore than both mwY and La Dispute, idk how much you'd like them tbh
Kinda felt the same at first Pajo, but both Stage Four and this one have proven to be growers

I was hesitant going into this given the difference sonically between singles and also with the more pop sounding Reminders. The album actually exceeded my expectations and it’s pretty damn good. My one knock would be Jeremy’s vocals on the first half of A Forecast, but even then they seem appropriate in Setting up the cathartic finish.

Stage Four was their worst (not to say bad) album...I really dont get how people praise it as their best. Does it get a pass because of the subject matter? The lyrical flow (not content) was nowhere near as fluid as the previous albums. Stoked to hear Lament.

I thought the singles were all poor, but will still jam as I've practically consumed all their discs this year.

"dude Stage Four is one of the best records ever..."
IDK about that, I feel Touchè Amore and probably any really emotional HC stuff is highly subjective on how/what resonates to your personal experiences the most

listening now, this is cool

I really like the artwork and i'm not sure why. Reminds me of a modern Third by Soft Machine; simple, yet elegant

Stage 4 got me really into the band, so I’m a bit skeptical with how I’ll feel about this. Great review and looking forward to listening. The Andy hull single was definitely interesting.

“I found the patience for jazz
I still love the Coen brothers
I've lost more family members
Not to cancer but the GOP
What's the difference I'm not for certain
They all end up dead to me”
Im not really sure about some of these lyrics lol
but the instrumentation so far on this record is pretty great
