"First impression of this was that it's pretty but ultimately forgettable. Probably a 3.5 for me"
That made me smile for the first time all day. I would tell you to never change dear sowing, but we all know you wouldn't change anyway.

K, just finished my third spin of the day and I, uhhhh, love it.
The title track is so good. Reading all the critiques makes me sad for the users that don't like it.

Reminds me of Sparklehorse some. Which is a cool thing. Found it on Bandcamp so I'm gonna give it a try. Need something to balance the new Marilyn Manson.

Haven't heard new MM but I'm sure this will be lightyears away from that.

Totally agreed with your assessment that this is more bedroom pop/indie folk than anything else. Do find the country tinge/aesthetic super endearing, though: would be interested in it being taken further. Like, country by way of bedroom pop, rather than the other way round. Dunno exactly what that'd sound like, maybe stronger/more forceful songwriting using a similar type of production. Album's definitely very slight.

Yeah, I agree with that. Country element is slight, but it's in some of the guitar and tones. Can't stop listening to this.

A nice morning listen, veering on a 2.5 regardless

This is way better than my first impression. I am in love with the vibe on this. Lo-fi but with very distinct flourishes, romantic and thoughtful lyrics, gorgeous folk atmosphere. What's not to like?

I was hyped on this for months, then I got too caught up with Fleet Foxes and Deftones dropping simultaneously to care about reviewing it anymore. Luckily dmathias stepped in with this nice review to make people aware. It's such a stunning lo-fi folk album. There's a gorgeous, blurry atmosphere here - sort of like walking home drunk at night and admiring the lights on all the buildings, or something. Maybe that analogy is totally off but I get a very in my own head / night time thoughts vibe from this and I can't stop listening to it for that very reason.

Any time I don't have something to listen to, this is what I put on. The electronic elements fit so nicely.

Still playing this to death. Seems like this should have an audience here that hasn't yet been tapped into, tbh. The little simple lead (if you can even call it that) at the end of the t/t is so good. Really the t/t in general is just chefs_kiss.img

Agreed. Seems like something the lo-fi audience here would eat up but for some reason this passed by quietly.

This isn't my favorite album of the year, but I have probably listened to it more than anything else. Feels sadly overlooked.
