i remember when MGK first came out as this "new kid on the block" of the rap scene, only for him to devolve into this blink-182 worship artist. this whole album, along with the singles I've heard on the radio a few times, are atrocious.

also he has "Tickets to My Downfall" tattooed right under his throat. does he really think this album was worth that? I feel like he and Telle Smith would be kindred spirits.

Rather obvious with all this glaring bias here. I mean who cares, its your opinions, so it is what it is, but to pretend like its FAX, an unbiased review, then keep on talking shit, kind of undermines your credibility in giving a review on this album. Some of y'all need to relax and perhaps consider looking for some other hobbies, especially looking at you Colton. What a mess. The album is fine. Dont expect Eminem stans or wannabe music connoisseurs to give it a 5. If you go into it wanting to hate it, you'll find plenty to hate. Same with if you want to love it.

I've followed MGK's career for a while, I'd even consider myself a fan. I am probably more on the positive side of the bias spectrum on this one, so just a heads up. Its pop punk, its supposed to sound like blink 182 or the late 90s/early 00s, especially with Travis Barker being this big of a part in this... and it does. For a more ignorant listener lot of the lyrics and the interludes would be cringe, for others they might believe he is just having fun with his friends/family. There are songs that are too obviously trying to recreate this blink 182 sound or being too repetitive, like Jawbreaker. There are still songs with more of hip hop sound like my ex's best friend with blackbear. Only track that I skip on the album on the replays is the interlude with Pete Davidson, I get the idea behind it and their friendship, their characters.. but its still cringe. Being his fan and knowing more about his past or life in general than perhaps an average listener here, some of it probably a deeper connection and meaning. The outro to the album on first listen even managed to make me shed a tear I think. Then again, like some people here are hellbent on believing its all a sham and thats just him mliking this trend. Whatever your opinion on that is, the album does fine on what it set out to achieve. Recreating this nostalgic pop punk sound, helping make rock more mainstream again. I'd say 3/5 in general terms, 4.5/5 if you are a fan of mgk or even blink 182.

"For a more ignorant listener..." dude get tf off your high horse

And lol at "4.5 if you are a fan of ... blink 182" if blink put this album out, even with the garbage they've shoveled at us in recent years, it'd still be a flaming pile

I LIKE pop punk. My name on here was literally two pop punk bands squashed together. Bad music is [subjectively] bad music, you don't need to try to chock it up to people being hell bent on calling this a sham or whatever. For the record, I'm glad he put this out to get this kind of music more attention again. Though, if it leads to people going the same route he did... I'd rather the mainstream viability of the genre stay dead lol we don't need more garbo clogging up the airwaves

Melon's Not Good is so deserved.

"Recreating this nostalgic pop punk sound, helping make rock more mainstream again." best joke i've heard in a while.
