“I don’t revisit much but this was a godsend during the pandemic”

Everything fucking sucked and then they dropped this and i immediately felt a little bit better for a while. Great album but I like private music more

Seems I missed the boat on the Eros leak. I doubt it's as good as this, though ;-)
Hm no it’s better. Just less polished.

It’s a demo with a lot of potential. Claiming it’s better than any of their full lengths is kind of silly
At the same time, I agree with this. I love Ohms but Eros has some higher highs, like Briana, Diamond and Destiny.

Having just re-listened to both private music and ohms, I give the edge to Ohms. It's only let down by Pompeji

Storm, left something for you.
So anyways, this is still easily their worst album. Almost made me give up on the band.

There’s nothing as bad as Pittura Infamante or Xenon but I think the peaks of that album are about as good as anything here.
It’s kinda hacky to point this out but a remix would do that album wonders. If Gore had the production job of this or private music it would immediately make that album a massive step up. And like, they have to know it sounds like shit, why else would they immediately go back to Terry with this and then Nick with private music?

This and Gore tend to get quite a bit of hate - I've got no problem with either but I'd say this is marginally better than Gore.
But I still think Gore is better than what most people think I guess.

I’m not sure it’s even that necessarily, they got lucky off TikTok popularity, I mean none of these songs are among the band’s most streamed meanwhile Sextape, Risk, and Mascara all randomly shot into the Spotify top 10. Even their cover of Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want was in the mix for a while.

Critically tho, for sure. Fucking everyone loved this a whole lot more than Gore. I mean shit, even just look at the avgs here lol

This was the result of an overblown "return to form" hype train after a disappointing release. Even I got caught up in it initially, but coming back to this album it's seriously underwhelming and has some of the worst offenders in their entire catalog.
Pompeji might be the worst and most grating alt-metal track I've ever listened to. Pittura and Xenon are masterpieces compared to it.

AlsO what a terrible performance from Chino all throughout this. He's usually hit or miss live, while in studio he always delivers, but he sounds ROUGH on some of these tracks. Completely off-pitch on a number of occasions and some of his hooks and overall vocal decisions are just atrocious (JEEEEZZUS CHRIIIIIST).
Stephen's riffs are non-existent, the album lacks any dynamics or sense of harmony really, it's just bleh

@Valkoor952 I really get what you're saying, and I'm not even denying it. But im actually the complete opposite; I thought the record was okay-ish on release and just recently I really got into it.
It's mostly background music during work or chores tho. The lack of attention on my part really helps.
And yeah Pompejijiiji is terrible.
