My fave full length rn is MGK's Tickets to my Downfall (though it's def more on the rock side of the spectrum).
Also really like (same sorta sound but without Travis Barker) Lil Aaron's gloing pains, 93FEETOFSMOKE's bummer, basically anything with Lil Lotus's name on it. Lot of it is pretty derivative of lil peep but I wasn't really hip to it when he was around.

This is definitely in the top Deftones albums, and it's actually my favourite of Chino's vocal performances. I've just grown to really dislike Carpenter's approach to guitar, and can't help but thinking about how much better these songs would be without the chugging guitar riffs.

Never really thought about it until this comment^^ but he almost completely dropped those cool dissonant chords he used on ATF through SNW when he adopted the 8-string for Diamond Eyes. Always thought they made his playing standout despite it's simplicity. Nothing like Mein or Hexagram or even Change on the 2010s albums

A lot of people here are saying this wears off fast. I don't necessarily agree. By the end of 2020 I wasn't nearly as infatuated, but I also listened to it almost daily for two months straight. I think any album has diminishing returns with that sort of heavy usage. I just listened to it again today after about a month or two off, and it hits really hard again. If I had to rewrite the review today it'd still be a 5 and arguably better than DE and WP.

a lot of prog metal i used to be able to jam just kind of irritates me now, compared to an album that just doesn't hit as hard as it used to. i try to think on why i enjoyed it so much in the first place - it helps, to some degree
