yeah the softer vocal approach is a big part of why I love this so much actually, but to each their own :]

Vocal volume is definitely a personal preference thing. Pecknold's voice is a big factor in why I like their earlier stuff, so it feels a bit underutilized here for me

This definitely feels less singer/songwriter than stuff like Helplessness Blues did so I can understand people being a bit offput by that. This is definitely not their best but I think I might like it more than Crack-Up. It’s looser and more “pleasant” than that was but there are still moments that sound labored over in ways the first two albums didn’t.

Also hot take but this doesn’t feel super autumnal to me, I get lots of summer vibes. Though I guess technically it’s release at the equinox positions it as the exact midpoint between summer and fall which kinda makes sense.

sent 2 songs from this album to my parents. I try to help keep them somewhat current since they basically have the same CD collection from 30 years ago. anyways, my mom just sent a text that she loves Sunblind, haha

I'm about to do the same for my dad this weekend because he's a huge Simon and Garfunkel fan and I turned him on to Fleet Foxes 3 years ago =D

great minds think alike! yeah, my dad loves Simon and Garfunkel as well. to be honest I think this album will appeal to that fanbase more than the typical Fleet Foxes release.

already got another text that they loved the 2nd track I sent as well (Featherweight). guess I'm sharing the whole album with them :]

Band isn’t usually for me so much but this is reeeal pretty. Hopefully I keep up motivation to listen a few more times at least, could be a mainstay if I give it a proper chance

My parents are both decent Fleet Foxes fans, my mom tried it on release day and wasn’t super impressed. Haven’t heard from my dad on it yet.

Makes me curious what other bands everyone is sharing with their mom and dad behind the scenes lol... or if Fleet Foxes are just special that way

Only at my urging, they don't do it spontaneously. When I was younger I'd try to force them to listen to Yellowcard and Brand New, so it took some time to earn their trust back. They prefer "easy listening". On the slate this weekend is this album, Kacey Musgraves' Golden Hour, and Honey Harper's Starmaker. They lean in the folk/ country direction.

Oh and my dad loves Taylor Swift which is hilarious even though I don't know why (because I do too)

I love how everyone talks like parents have bad/boring taste...my parents both have better taste than I do tbh

I need to just accept that although in theory I should love Fleet Foxes, they just aren't going to click with me. I have tried several releases and after the 2nd listen through this, I just don't understand the hype.
