I mean, really, though, you change the ordering of any album, it's gonna totally change your interpretation of an album. I'm sure a good argument/interpretation could be made for a few variations. For me, Graceland Too needs to be near the end. It feels like a really hopeful diversion from the rest of the album.

To me it doesn't matter where that hopeful diversion happens though. I have it at 7th/11 on the tracklist, which is sort of back end I guess but I really enjoy how it works with Garden Song. To me they're similar folksy ballads but with entirely different rhythms so they don't stagnate in succession. Obviously it's intended to be heard in the order that Phoebe determined, I just couldn't help tweaking it to my liking.

Totally get that. The reason I don't like this album is definitely because I find the mid-section so stagnant.
And oh yeah, I think tweaking albums is a good and interesting practice, crazy how important track order is.

Same. In essence all I did was move the slower tracks to the back (besides Halloween, which fits nicely between Chinese Satellite and Savior Complex IMO), which helps draw me in so that I'm more acclimated to the plodding atmosphere by the time Moon Song/Garden Song come around. I don't know why, it just works for me lol.

I love Garden Song, like to the point that it's probably a top 5 track on here for me. Those low vocals just catch me every single listen

Garden Song has always been a solid "fine" for me but the run from Kyoto through Moon Song completely overshadows it

I would never change the order of a tracklist cause I never have the attention span to listen to a full album front to back anyway lol

and most people don't tbh so I don't think artists prioritize it quite as much as they used to

I think you're in the minority on Sputnik (or any other music website probably).

I've been saving this one, and finally got a chance to listen, so I'm only about 4-5 listens in. Stranger in the Alps was my favorite album of 2017, and I listened to it religiously that fall, so I had high hopes!
