Synthwave needs more sputlove [2]

Think I'm gonna post another Synthwave list, but first I'd have to add a lot of albums to the database

Been on a huge Midnight kick lately. I played Hotline Miami and I've been hooked on this stuff ever since.

Synthwave was what made me buy Hotline Miami at all lol. Had no idea what I was getting myself into, I just knew all the artists on the soundtracks. First games I bought on steam and they were so fun once I got past the learning curve

Hot take I guess, I like the second game more than the first. I think it's got more replay value

I was entirely the opposite. Played hotline miami and watched Drive and was like 'daymn those be some fine ass tunes, must check'. Can't actually recall what Drive's soundtrack sounds like, come to think if it, but I think it was synthwave-y

Intro track to Drive is "Nightcall" by Kavinsky. Cool tune for sure

This, Cliff Martinez' Drive, Lazerhawk and Gunship's debuts, Perturbator's Dangerous Days and Uncanny Valley and finally, both Hotline Miami soundtracks

that's pretty much the best the genre has to offer

Have to agree with gyro and jots about the first paragraph. Unfortunately it made me lose interest.

Synthwave usually works better as soundtrack music imo, carpenter brut is particularly overrated. Seems to be an appealing intro to electronic for metalheads tho.

Disasterpieces 'It Follows' and 'Hyper Light Drifter' are two of my favs but I wouldn't really listen to them on their own either.

I prefer Carpenter Brut as well

Perturbator leans way more towards the darksynth style unlike Carpenter Brut which goes for the more synthwave style

How are Perturbator and Carpenter Brut overrated lol they literally shaped darksynth as the genre and scene as it is now

Also shaping a genre doesn't make it a good genre js
