Yeah, rating on Sputnik has been a means of remembering shit for a while for me. I couldn't imagine not having a record of what I've heard. I feel legitimately at a loss when I wanna rate something to remember it and it's not on the site but I'm too lazy to add it, so I guess I'll favorite it on YouTube or add to my liked music on a streaming service.

the only thing that sput gets right more often than rym does is that whenever an album gets edited your saved data doesn't get lost into the void

Sput is better for having an actual discussion, and if you say something stupid people will actually call you out on it

This kinda feels like Taylor Swift singing over TWFM-era The National demos that never got past the concept stage but also I'm really here for it.

Can really hear Matt Berninger singing over tracks like The Last Great American Dynasty or Cardigan tho - those ones are honestly probably better songs than half The National's last album

I'm so here for it that I won't be surprised if this ends up my AOTY.

I'm still torn between two thoughts - the one is that folklore doesn't nearly pursue the indie vibes to the extent that it could (and arguably should) have, and thus feels empty/lazy - the other is that it's a damn good lo-fi pop album, so I shouldn't allow my personal expectations to contort what is otherwise one of her best albums. It's a light 4.5 or a strong 4 for me, probably top-10 or top-15 by year's end.

I think it manages to toe the line between being an indie folk record while still being a marginally accessible Taylor Swift record. I think a deeper exploration it still to come.

Have you heard "The Lakes" yet Sowing? Nothing short of the perfect way to close the record. Hoax was never it.
