"one of those times being when I first heard The Mantle. I do not mislead you; Im Wald is the kind of album that comes out about once a decade. "

Guess I'm gonna have to check this O_O

I gave 'Kristall und Isa' a listen about a year back and it was painfully average to me. Hoping this will be better.

Kristall has some cool stuff but this is on another level of execution and magnitude.

I love Kristall, easy listening Paysage if there is such a thing. It's just way easier to digest than most of his other stuff but still has a fantastic atmosphere, great intensity, and some pretty sweet riffs.

But yeah, this is leagues better.

Listened to this last night and god damn the way all the instruments and structure changes are so subtle while still being gripping is a work of art. Usually with music like this it takes several listens for me to get into it but as soon as a song starts on here I’m hooked. I started to lose interest after Le Rev Lucide but that was probably because it was 3 am lol

"La Reve Lucide" is PdH's best song since at least Winterkalte. The way its melodies and riffs dance around each other is entrancing.

Giving this a 4.5 for now. Didn't think anyone would catch up to Black Curse, but this is probably better. Let's see where Defeated Sanity ends up in the discussion for AOTY.

Great album, but the one dimensional keyboards make this not achieving it's full potential IMO... defintiely would be better without 90 per cent of the synths...

Isn't the production here better than on many previous releases?

Still bad by every other standard ofc.
