There isn't much I don't like on Fortress tbh. Spoils, Dissentience, Limb from Limb and Goddess Gagged are the only ones I don't 100% love, but they're still fun. The rest is all killer

Yeah, that's my favorite on Fortress.

Arif's a weird dude. Like, who would ever want to willingly live in Iran.

The two new songs, Dueling Cavalier and Gift Horse, are both great. I'd place them above Rivet and The Canary so I wonder how they made the decision which songs to keep. Dueling Cavalier in particular has some incredible vocal passsages.

Haven't been following the thread here since the album dropped. Today I gave it a good listen with the lyrics and all I can say is ''WOW''. An amazing album technically-wise, now has become an awesome and enjoyable album as a whole. Didn't expect the lyrics to be this cutting. I'm actually surprised that a prog band has such political lyrics, when the genre is burdened by esoterical, abstract lyrics, that sometimes can even be one word (I'm looking at you Katatonia and Leprous!)

Yeah myth, that's what makes this disc special. It's melodic af, amazing technicalities as always, yet strikes some great lyrical portraits that I didn't think PtH could do. I'm still listening to this on a weekly basis

Lyrics are on-the-nose 5th grade level history, with actual inaccuracies (like the date in the song about Baby Face Nelson) and a flawed presentist viewpoint. Yet I'm still in love with every other aspect of this band hence why I also spent almost 200 bucks on my pre-order package haha.

I didn't notice any flawed presentist viewpoint, tbh, but I wouldn't recognise the date mistake either. However, I do find it awesome that a prog metal band chose for actual commentary lyrics and present themes, and without ignoring your notes, I think that the whole concept is greater than the parts, especially given the amazing music, stunning cover art and of course, closing the album with one of the most devisive slogan in American politics, revised
