The concept is fine, but I can't even focus on the lyrics or the excellent musicianship because of how terrible the mixing is on the guitars and vox

I've tried listening to this for the 3rd time in it's entirety. It's not clicking as much as I hoped. I miss the intensity they used to have and Rody annoys the shit out of me at times. It's not just the vocal delivery/production, the vocal lines are severely lacking too. I miss Scurrilous/Volition era Rody.

Like I mentioned already 10 000 times already though, All Hands is in my top 10 Protest songs now. I also really like The Migrant Mother, Soliloquy and Reverie. When everything clicks, it's pretty great.

He fucked his voice. Forget Scurrilous/Fortress unregulated Rody. Melodically and technically though this is probably the best he has ever been as a 'professional' singer

I'm giving this another spin out of sheer stubbornness and finding a bit more to appreciate. From the Sky is really good until that piano break, but then... ugh. Reverie, Little Snakes, and Gardenias make up the sickest "run" here, if you forget that dopey interlude track between them. All Hands is nice too. Idk this might grow on me more, I really hope so.

I've got to say, this died really fast for me. I feel like a few more sections with screams/growls would have really elevated this further.

I’ve been really busy this weekend and haven’t listened to any music for two days but I’ve constantly had about 7 or 8 of these hooks on rotation in my head.

I think this is the catchiest that protest have ever been and I’ve been a massive fan since Kezia.

I'm excited to see how they are going to develop their sound on their next album. On one side it feels like they reached full potential with this one, on the other side i genuinely feel that sound could become a little bit stale. As for now, i'd take another album like this at any moment, so let's see.

The Canary still rules but I can't help but think it would be even better if they threw in one more chorus at the very end
