The only good part of "Nothing Shameful" is Andrew's part imo. "One in a Million" is a pretty standard Tilian-era DGD track, but I think it's one of the best on the album. Those ending runs are magical. I don't mind "Strawberry's Wake" or "Three Wishes" either.

Andrew's part is so ridiculously better than the rest of the album it's kind of funny. its single-handedly the reason I can zero in on any song here as a highlight. almost every other song sounds like it was written on autopilot, except for Calenta and Sunset, which are at least admirable as big departures even though they're terrible

Prisoner is a solid Royal Coda song and Say Hi would be a pretty good Secret Band song if you cut Tillian from it. everything else is pretty slim pickings frankly

Yeah, "Prisoner" is solid for sure. I wish they had expounded on the funk element more throughout the song (and album).

I'm excited but also worried about their next record.

After listening to old Tides of Man and even Acceptance Speech tbh, Tillian REALLY needs to tone down the flamboyancy in his singing and get back to the more dark/sinister sound he would often have in his earlier work.

flamboyancy is a perfect way to describe the progression of Tilian's singing/songwriting - he just tries way too damn hard

you may not like his voice, but he's clearly not the problem w/the band at this point... the songs being written are just not as engaging, and i think that has more to with will than anyone.

I think he's great on AS, IG and MoShip, but I feel like he is straying away from his strengths in favor of experimentation. That may be a combination of his own experimentation and that of Will, however it's hard to say how involved they are with each other's writing process.

I do agree that the band has bigger problems than Tilian, however since he's the frontman of the band it's hard to ignore. Sometimes a "back to basics" approach is what an artist needs to reign it in and grow.

It's obvious that their new direction is being appreciated by a new generation of fans, which is totally fine. However I recommend never looking at the DGD subreddit - absolutely cringe.

how anyone could think One In a Million's overprocessed ending is a solid moment is beyond me

I've said it before Tillian is the main reason this record is so obnoxious and the fact that they wrote a song as god damn stupid as Calentamiento

"However I recommend never looking at the DGD subreddit - absolutely cringe."

on this note I would also recommend to anyone to stay away from the swanposting group

Yeah Swanposting is the fucking worst. I dipped from that group years ago and still see drama leaking out from it all the time.

The "One In A Million" ending is a great pop moment in the spirit of the of "Acceptance Speech" and "Betrayed by the Game" closings imo.

"Yeah Swanposting is the fucking worst."

it got to the point where you couldn't even say you liked DBM 1 and 2 just bc Craig was associated with them

see those 2 are of my all time dgd fave songs but One in a Million ranks very very low

Will can still riff like a maniac, LP2 proved that. I think they settled into a comfortable successful rut with Tillian and so Will doesn't go as hard now because he knows he doesn't have to. also dude's written like six albums in five years or something it's batshit

in summary, my point is lose Tillian and get Andrew Wells full time

lol i dont think this band could take another singer change, though I'd be very intrigued. Eidola is basically DGD Jr. so there's that.

Andrew sounded incredible on Tree City Sessions 2 ... would love to have him take a prominent role in DGD but it just won't happen, people LOVE Tillian. He has really just worn on me with the last couple albums.
