New song is aggressively mid and literally has nothing to say in a sea of a 100+ recorded DGD songs that are now starting to blur together. New album will (likely) be better than Jackpot Juicer but that's hardly a high bar to clear.

feather its funny that list also devolved into nfl talk - that jackpot juicer thread is approaching 300 pages of exclusive nfl talk lmao

i only heard the new song once hours ago and after thinking about it again it might be like a bottom 10 DGD song of all time, it was so bad and out of touch. andrew wells wants to be a tillian/jonny craig hybrid so bad

its too bad its all for naught because the dgd fanbases is one of the most delusional loyal fanbase of almost any band out there

@vult right, impossible to make a new DGD thread without nfl talk haha

The best part about the new song is the unique-ish vocals from what I believe is Mess, but overall just falls so flat. Could be AI generated copy and paste at this point.

In other news, Mattias Adolfsson's art for the new album is gorgeous as always. Really cool cross between the death star, mothership and DBM II art. Unfortunately album won't likely live up

The only thing that delivers on every DGD release (well, minus WISIRO and a few singles, I suppose) is the album art. Kind of sad when you think about it.

Yea he really has no identity of his own lol, I've never been big on him even in Eidola but this seems to be a new low

For all those agreeing about the stellar art, you should follow Matthias adolfsson and potentially buy some of his work. The guy is so so talented

^ please no 😂

At the same time, I do not even care anymore. Band is dead to me, emotionally anyway. I’ll always check their stuff just to see if anything hits, but I have no desire to keep up with them or listen to them anymore

I think the only way they could use Craig is in the studio or for some shows here and there. He has fucked up so lot in the earlier years they toured together

Would be cool if they brought Travis back in the mix, but he is back in A Lot Like Birds i think, aaand also Royal Coda ofc

"bring back jonny craig"

No. I saw them live with all three singers like 8 years ago and he couldn't sing for shit. Weirdly, doing heroin constantly doesn't seem like it's great for your voice.

There's apparently a Kurt feature on the new album, hope they do the same thing they did with Shelf Life where it's mostly Kurt singing.

Kurt seems like such a good dude. Stable, and has stood by DGD through thick and thin. For me it would be a no brainer for me to consider him for the part of lead vocalist again. I bet it is because his voice is rougher and actually have edge they havent taken him back (not sure if he would want that either but yeah). The way they use Andrew now is evidence that they feel safe with a more "pop" oriented type of vocals, which is a shame because it has run its course long time ago by now
