Yeah I’ve caught a few of his streams too... feel like he doesn’t warm up his voice at all for those. I specifically remember catching the beginning of one where he started playing Down From the Sky and could barely scream.

And yeah I still can’t get over how good Alex is and how much he improves their newer material. He’s like a wet dream for kids like me who grew up trying to be Travis/The Rev/Joey Jordison behind the kit

Travis was cool, but Alex is next level [2]
And his poker face is the cherry on top

Damn I completely missed this album somehow, will need to check it out. I just listened to Catastrophist which was pretty solid.
The Sin and the Sentence honestly might be my favorite Trivium album, so I doubt this is going to top their previous effort, especially based on the ratings/comments I'm seeing.

Maybe it doesn't top it, if we had to compare, but tops it in the sense that it's built upon what The Sin... started. It's a continuation.

Definitely piles onto what Sin started.

Have to say on the streams he is holding back so he doesn't damage his voice but agree some of his techniques are off. He seems to think he has unlocked the secrets of how to sing well but he's still not there technically
Travis seemed to be ok when I saw them but it was mainly Crusade stuff so it wasn't that testing I guess. Nick definitely struggled live especially with holding tempo. Not tight at all.

I've gotta say, this was pretty disappointing after finally listening to it. Seems like a big step down from The Sin and the Sentence. I actually had to turn it off around the halfway point from sheer boredom. Planning to listen to the second half later but damn...
Also on a side note, one of my general gripes with this band is that their songs are too long for their own good.

Trivium are band who seems to have find a perfect balance between fan service and personal expression, all while changing identities and actually making a name for themselves. I didn't use to care, but lately I'm having fun listening to them

totally forgot this actually came out. Gonna listen to this again since they announced a tour (with TesseracT, weird eh?). Hyped to see them cancel it. Wish the production on this record was a bit more lively

I always liked them for these reasons. They're polished mainstream metal, but I don't really care haha

They've got a pretty spotty discog, but sometimes they strike gold. You can't help but root for them.

These guys have so much bullshit in their discog (arguably more than actual good material), but there are very few metal bands better than Trivium are at their best.
Don't even think they even have an album better than a 4... but I can easily put together like 60 minutes of tracks that would be a hard 5

This is way better than I was expecting.

Scattering the Ashes is a bit by the numbers, especially coming right after the beast dup of The Defiant and My Sickness...
